# Terms of Use

## The specification and the packages

The Schema Resume specification (`schema.json`, `meta-schema.json`,
`context.jsonld`, the XSD) and every validator package under `packages/` are
released under the [MIT License](https://github.com/tradik/schema-resume/blob/main/LICENSE).
You may use, copy, modify and redistribute them, commercially or otherwise,
provided the copyright notice stays with them.

## The website and its tools

The validator, converter and CV editor are offered free of charge for any
lawful purpose. They run in your browser; see the [privacy policy](/privacy)
for what that means in practice.

## No warranty

Everything here is provided **as is**, without warranty of any kind. In
particular:

- A document that validates against the schema is well-formed according to the
specification. That is all it means. It is not a guarantee that any employer,
applicant-tracking system or third-party tool will accept it.
- Versioned schema URLs (`/1.2/schema.json` and so on) are intended to stay
  published indefinitely, as described in
[versioning and stability](/versioning), but this is a commitment of
  intent, not a service-level agreement.
- The site may be unavailable, changed or withdrawn at any time.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the maintainers are not liable for any
loss arising from use of the site, the specification or the packages.

## Acceptable use

Do not use the site to attack it or anyone else: no attempts to exhaust
resources, probe other users, or circumvent the consent mechanism. Security
research conducted in good faith within the scope of our
[security policy](https://github.com/tradik/schema-resume/blob/main/SECURITY.md)
is welcome.

## Contributions

Issues and pull requests to the
[repository](https://github.com/tradik/schema-resume) are licensed under the
same MIT terms as the project. See the contributing guide for how to propose a
change to the specification.

## Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If any part is found
unenforceable, the rest stands.
